Best bike touring trails in Lünen

Stage 5 of the Römer-Lippe-Route. The penultimate section of the Römer-Lippe-Route leads from Lünen through the Hohe Mark Nature Park - Westmünsterland to idyllic Haltern am See. On the way, there are loops to historic Selm or to Datteln to the south. Goal: Haltern am See Highlights: - Lünen: Uferkastell, Schwansbell Castle - Selm: LWL State Museum for Art and Cultural History, Botzlar Castle, windmill tower, wayside chapel - Dates: Hermann Grochtmann Museum, Harbor Bridge, LWL Roman Museum

This route runs through the region north of Dortmund, Bochum and Essen. Part of the route runs along the Wesel-Datteln Canal. It also runs along the edge of the Die Haard forest. Much of the trail passes through towns and villages and the fields and farms in between. Part of the trail leads through the Hohe Mark Nature Park.
