Best moderate trails in Herrieden

This route is stage 2 of the Altmühltal Cycle Path, a long-distance trail between Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Kelheim. Starting from Herrieden, this flat, gentle section follows the Altmühl river through the scenic Franconian Lake District to Treuchtlingen. Cyclists pass through historic towns like Ornbau and Gunzenhausen, skirt the shores of the Altmühlsee with its bird island nature reserve, and pass the historic Fosse Charta canal before reaching Treuchtlingen's Stadtschloss. Nice bike tour along the Altmühl This bike tour leads mostly on paved paths along the Altmühl and around the Brombachsee. There are a number of good places to stop for refreshments along the way. The charming landscape invites you to linger and swim at the Almühlsee, but also at the Brombachsee. At the end of the tour you can also cool off a little in the river swimming pool in Ornbau.
