This route is stage 6 of the Albschäferweg, starting in Zang and ending at the Naturfreundehaus in Heidenheim. Leaving Zang's Bänklesweg, the path crosses quiet woodlands toward the Herwartstein castle ruins above Königsbronn. It continues past the scenic Itzelberger See lake, through the protected Siebter Fuß banner forest, and over rolling plateau meadows to the Hahnenschnabel heathland overlooking Heidenheim. You walk through the town in the direction of Flachsberg and then turn right onto the Panoramaweg. On the way you can always stop and enjoy the beautiful views of Königsbronn and the lake.
