This route is a certified premium hiking trail and "Genießerpfad". It crosses and circles the Feldberg range. This guarantees that the landscape changes regularly so that you never get bored. Starting at the "House of Nature", where you can find detailed information about the trail the route starts heading uphill on the Franz Klarmeyer Weg. On your way to Feldberg, you pass the Bismarck monument from where you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. On the descent, you can stop at the Baldenweger Hütte to grab some food and take a rest before following the Sägenbach river for a short distance. When you head further south, you will reach the Feldsee before returning to the starting point. The trail follow many narrow paths, opens up great views and leads through one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Germany. It has an almost sub-alpine character and on good days you will be rewarded with a view from the Zugspitze to Mount Blanc. Owners of a "Hochschwarzwälder Wanderkompass" be aware: On this trail there is a stamping point with a cuckoo clock-stamp to be found.Show more

The Feldsee, or Feldbergsee, is located east of Freiburg / Breisgau at the foot of the Feldberg at 1110 m. ü. On the circular route you can discover all sides of the Karsee, known as the dark eye. Since it is quite high, the lake freezes completely in winter. The almost black, cold water of the Feldsee is poor in nutrients and rich in oxygen and is home to unique, specialized flora and fauna. A forest of beech, fir, spruce and sycamore maple grows around the lake - avalanches only allow tree species with elastic wood to grow on the Karwand. Bathing in the lake is prohibited and the ducks must not be fed, as duck droppings and leftover bread can settle in the lake and affect the plants.Show more
