This hike is probably one of the most beautiful on the Ruhr. The ridgeway has steep climbs with magnificent Ruhr, Kemnader dam, and waterworks views. There are numerous places to stop for refreshments.
From Haus Kemnade, after an ascent through the forests of the Alte Ruhr-Katzenstein conservation area,the route reaches Blankenstein Castle. A detour to the high medieval castle's ruins is planned. It towers imposingly over the Ruhr, offering sweeping views.
The route descends through the Gethmannscher Garten to the Ruhr. The Ruhr is finally crossed and leads after a loop on the historic Leinpfad back to the starting point.
