Scenic mountain bike tour in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia.
The tour is designed more for mountain biking, but can also be ridden by experienced touring cyclists. The starting point is Heveney harbour on Lake Kemnader. From there, the route leads through the Ölbachtal valley and the Wittener Papenholz to Steinhausen Castle. The route continues into the old mining area of Muttental, which is the tour's namesake. Past the trout ponds, an intense ascent awaits.
This is followed by beautiful views and a fun descent into the Hammertal valley, over the weir of Lake Kemnader. Turn left to the Kosterbrücke bridge, through Weitmarer Holz and into the upper part of Stiepel. Now it's all downhill through Milan with the Bochum Golf Club back to Heveney harbour.
