Die braune Route: Das Swatte Flag“ und die Dörfer Findorffs

This route leads past the moorland farms of Weyerdeelen and Überhamm to the edge of the Breddorf moor. The small "Swatte Flag" moor pond in the roadless expanse of the moor gives an impression of what the land looked like before it was cultivated. In 1751, the electoral Hanoverian moor commissioner Jürgen Christian Findorff began the systematic colonisation and settlement of the Teufelsmoor. New villages such as Mevenstedt, Bergedorf and Schlußdorf emerged in a typical settlement structure developed by Findorff. On the edge of the Weyerberg, the tour leads through the "Lange Moor". This moor is also no longer a moor in the biological sense. It is 80 per cent used as grassland.
