Tatzelwurm - Brünnstein Summit

Varied circular hike near Bayrischzell in the Upper Bavarian Alps. The view from the summit of the Brünnstein and the location of the mountain are unrivalled. The view extends as far as the Kaiser Mountains, Hohe Tauern, Großglockner, Großvenediger and Zillertal Alps. The trail starts at the Tatzelwurm forest car park. At the Hotel feuriger Tatzelwurm, the trail leads uphill to the start of the signposting. From there, follow the signs for "Oberer Wasserfall". The red or blue signposts then lead to the beautiful Brünnsteinhütte. The red trail is very scenic and pleasant, but there is a decent ascent. Once you reach the Brünnsteinhaus, the sun terrace offers a wonderful place to stop for refreshments, including a mountain cinema. From there, the red signposts lead on to the summit of the Brünnstein. This route is very challenging and is a partly secured climb, but can still be climbed without special climbing equipment; above all, you should have a head for heights, surefootedness and a basic level of fitness. are required. On the other side of the summit, another route leads downhill to the Himmelmoos-Alm, on to the Seelacher-Alm and back to the forest car park. This is also very challenging for the first 100 metres, but then follows a very pleasant descent.
