Kingfisher Circular Route

Certified "dream tour" and relaxed day trip in the Bavarian Forest. This quiet yet exciting hike is a little off the beaten track in the Bavarian Forest. Apart from the steep ascent to the summit cross on the Hohe Kanzel, the hike is well suited for families with children on natural paths and trails. It runs along the old railway line of the Spiegelau forest railway, which transported timber in the 1950s, alongside the rushing Steinbach stream and, with a bit of luck, beavers can be spotted. A head for heights and surefootedness are required for the ascent to the summit on the narrow path. From up here, the view can stretch as far as the Alps! The route is marked throughout with the kingfisher on a yellow background and has been certified as a short quality trail in the "dream tour" category by the German Hiking Association. The start is at the "Am Jägerstrassl" car park directly by the Mauth bathing lake. If travelling by public transport, the 6115/Finserau bus to the Igelbus stop at the Mauth P+R car park can be taken. There is an inn and shopping facilities in Mauth.
