The route starts at the valley station of the Fellhornbahn cable car at the "Faistenoy" car park, which is subject to a charge. Along the Stillach and Rappenalpbach streams, the route first leads to the Schwarze Hütte, then along the Eselweg trail past the Mußkopf to the Rappenseehütte and beyond to the Rappenseekopf (2469m).
