This hike starts at the Alpe Eschbach in Birgsau. There are several huts along the route where you can stop for refreshments in summer. The Breitengehrenalpe is particularly rustic. Cheese is still made on site here. The dairyman is a real "Allgäu original".
The route follows the signs for the Rappenseehütte along a strenuous ascent. However, the effort is rewarded with fantastic views.
