Pfrontner's local mountain has two very different faces: from the mountain station of the Breitenberg cable car, there are just 100 metres of altitude to cover on wide tracks and footpaths. A correspondingly large number of excursionists can be found on this side of the mountain. Coming from the west, however, 900 metres in altitude have to be overcome on a rather lonely ridge hike.
This circular route leads once around the Breitenberg. It starts at the car park directly at Pfronten-Steinach railway station, so it is easy to get there by car or train. It is possible to stop for a bite to eat at the Hochalphütte.
