Challenging hike in the Allgäu, Bavaria.
This route is a relatively easier alternative to the ascent from Milchhäusle to Kienberg. The hike is steep and you walk on narrow (but not overgrown or muddy, as it is south-facing) paths in the grass or forest. The paths are somewhat exposed, so surefootedness is essential. This hike is not advisable in wet conditions.
First follow the forest road (not the footpath) to the Milchhäusle.
At the large hairpin bend, go straight ahead through the gate, then continue along the forest road for a while, later ascending without a path to the forest. There you will find red, faded markings and a clearly visible trail. At some point, this path crosses under a rock face, then a small waterfall awaits. Immediately after this, the trail heads steeply uphill to the right on a clearly recognisable, marked path. At some point, a small stream is crossed and the route is now much less exposed to the ridge of the Kienberg. There you meet the normal path (Kienberg path), which you can take back down into the valley.
Finding a car park can be a little difficult.
