The route starts at the car park near the Hotel Bergfried on the edge of the town of Rötz. From there it goes directly uphill via the Schützsteig to the 690 metre high local mountain of the town of Rötz, the Schwarzwihrberg. Here you will find the Schwarzenburg castle ruins, which can be visited all year round. From there, and finally from the summit of the Schwarzwihrberg, there are marvellous views over the Schwarzach valley.
