Popular, panoramic circular route near Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg.
It is easy to reach Heidelberg-Altstadt railway station by S-Bahn. The route gradually climbs up through the forest to the Königstuhl with its inn and falconry. The marvellous view of Heidelberg, the Rhine Valley and the Odenwald can be enjoyed from here. The steps of the "Himmelsleiter" ("ladder to heaven") lead downhill to Heidelberg's beautiful Old Town. It is possible to take the mountain railway to the castle or back to the Old Town.
There are numerous nice places to stop for refreshments along the way and in the Old Town.
