Section of the premium hiking trail Gernsbacher Runde (long-distance hiking trail) in the northern Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg.
The Gernsbacher Runde long-distance hiking trail has been awarded the Premium Hiking Trail seal of approval by the German Hiking Institute. This section of the trail can be hiked in around 9 hours. It begins south of Gernsbach and leads along the western side of the town past Staufenberg. At first, you follow a small zig-zag path, but soon the hike crosses orchards. You can enjoy the marvellous views of nearby Eberstein Castle. A detour here is possible and is rewarded with a Michelin-starred restaurant and the castle tavern. The hiking symbol of the route is the so-called Eberstein Rose. It can also be found in the town and municipal coat of arms of the region.
