This hike begins in the village of Obertsrot, at the "Obertsrot (Murgtal)" S-Bahn station. The route leads via St Anthony's Chapel, Eberstein Castle and its vineyards and crosses the beautiful Ätzenbach stream several times. Where St Anthony's Chapel now stands, there used to be a mighty oak tree with an image of St Anthony. The chapel was built in 1851 and was a place of pilgrimage for the countesses of Eberstein Castle. Eberstein Castle is a fortress that was built in 1272 by Count Eberstein.
The route mainly runs along the edge of the forest and partly follows the Gernsbacher Runde. You can see goats, birds and cows on this wonderfully picturesque route.
