Best trails near Burgruine Werdenfels

Panoramic hike near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Ammergebirge nature reserve. This interesting tour leads along mostly flat gravel paths to the ruins of Werdenfels Castle via the Kramerplateauweg. The path can be continued from there to the Pflegersee, where there is a lido and refreshments available at the Berggasthof Pflegersee. Return along the same route. The circular trail begins at the hikers' car park on Pflegerseestraße and initially leads slightly downhill to Schmölzersee. From there, the trail climbs through the forest to the Werdenfels castle ruins. The trail continues to the Pflegersee, which also has a lido. The route runs partly along the Kramerplateauweg and offers various rest areas. The landscape is characterised by the two lakes, sections of forest and the mountain panorama of the Ammergau Alps.

From Farchant (680m) take the Spielleitenstrasse to the edge of the forest and then turn left along the Spielleitenweg heading SW to Burgrain (720m). There, at the hikers' car park at Lahnenwiesgraben, turn right at an acute angle heading N up the forest road steeply towards "Enningalm-Reschbergwiesen".
