Wooded hike from the centre of Mayen. This hike leads from the centre of Mayen out into the forest areas to the west of the town. Here the route follows mostly well-maintained forest paths to the Mayen climbing forest, which is located just before Kürrenberg. The climbing forest provides some variety along the route and is great for a family outing.

Leisurely walk to the Eiterbach stream. The short circular walk begins in Mayen at Mayen West railway station. From here, it first leads to the Eiterbach stream and then back to Mayen's old town centre. Here we recommend a short detour via the Mayen weekly market to Genoveva Castle and the Obertor gate. The Genoveva Castle houses the Eifel Museum with the EifelTotal exhibition and the German slate mine.

The short route of the Mayen RTF gives a good impression of the hilly landscape around Mayen, as it leads to the hills around Laubach and then largely flat through the Elz valley back to the finish. Nevertheless, there are quite a few metres of elevation gain for this distance. There is a refreshment stop along the way in Hauroth, and two real tests of strength await the riders with the climbs at Kehriger-Mühle and at the end behind the idyllic village of Monreal.
