Panoramic circular hike in Hesse There is a lot to discover on this circular tour through the Ronneburg hills and the village of Niedergründau. The village's mountain church, first mentioned in 1217, is a stop on the Way of St James between Fulda and Frankfurt. The surrounding hills offer beautiful views and a varied landscape. The route is marked with a yellow EU boat on a blue background.

An approximately six-kilometre circular trail is marked with a woodpecker and takes about one and a half hours to complete. It starts with an owl and butterfly and leads to just before the chicken farm. The trail then leads through the middle of the Oberwald forest to the Sommerberg. From there, the trail descends steeply to the forest swimming pool and continues with Owl and Boar back to Sommerbergstraße.

You should plan a good two hours for the eight-kilometre butterfly trail. Together with the Owl Trail, it leads just past the Hühnerhof golf course around the Oberwald forest. It leaves the Owl Trail at "Lothar's Bank" to meet it again a few metres downhill. "Lothar's Bench" was donated to Lothar Krieg by the town of Gelnhausen on his retirement.
