Best historic site trails in Obing

This tour leads along quiet paths to the tip of the Urfahrn peninsula on Lake Chiemsee. From there, the Herreninsel seems close enough to touch. It was from there that the fairytale king Ludwig II crossed over to the Herreninsel. On the way between Gstadt and the peninsula, you also pass the Ganszipfel observation tower, from where you have a wonderful view of Lake Chiemsee and the Chiemgau mountains.

Beautiful and scenic cycle tour. The only bumpy section: a short stretch (300m) around the Griessee to Seeon, otherwise mainly tarmac and some gravel (surfaced). Only a few hills at the start, from Eggstätt the route is flat. Refreshment stops: Seeon, Hartsee (Eggstätt), Stetten (nice inn), Gollenshausen (on Lake Chiemsee).

Hiking trail to the grotto, the plague chapel and the plague cemetery. The plague chapel in the forest at a crossroads between Obing and Pittenhart was built around 1860 in memory of those who died of the plague during the Thirty Years' War, when the Spanish brought the plague to this area and killed a large proportion of the population from the area around Obing, Pittenhart and Albertaich. This plague cemetery is located a good 100 metres east of the plague chapel.
