Glider Airfield through the Fischbeker Heide

Family-friendly circular hike in the south of Hamburg This short and relaxed loop through Hamburg's third largest nature reserve starts at the car park at the beginning of the Heidschnuckenweg trail. Nature lovers of all ages should keep their eyes peeled, as the nature reserve, which is characterised by spring moors, woodland and meadows as well as wet and dry heath, is home to over 2,000 species of small animals, including rare butterflies and magnificent dragonflies. When the heather is in bloom between mid-August and early September, this trail is particularly attractive, but also much busier than usual. For nature conservation reasons, the heathland may not be entered and dogs must be kept on a short lead. If you want to start the walk from the south, you can park at the nature conservation information centre on Fischbeker Heidweg.
