Hinterhermsdorf - River Kirnitzsch with boat trip border hike

Close-to-nature hike in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, Saxony. A natural, in some places almost wild hiking experience awaits you on this route in the German-Czech border region. You follow the Kirnitzsch river for several kilometres as it carves its way through gorges dug deep into the sandstone towards the Elbe. A real highlight is the boat trip in the footsteps of the wooden raftsmen from the Lower Lock to the Upper Lock. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness, especially in wet weather conditions, are essential for this circular hike. As the route leads through the core zone of the national park, natural obstacles such as fallen trees or overgrown paths must be expected.
