Über die Pohlshörner zum Teichstein

Moderately difficult hike. Good basic fitness required. Predominantly easy paths. Sure-footedness required. The hike starts at the Räumichtmühle bus stop in Saupsdorf. It follows the green line markings through the Mühlschlüchte. The Kleine Pohlshorn is reached first (detour to the right of the path). Back on the path, continue to the right and the next viewpoint is the Große Pohlshorn. The Große Pohlshorn (378 m) is a vantage point in the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz. Away from the crowded trails, this panoramic rock is a less well-known but rewarding hiking destination. If you look closely, you will recognise the striking Kleinstein Cave in the distance. In front of you is the Großer Zschand - a wide dry valley in the heart of the national park, forests and rocks. If you look closely, you will recognise the Kleinstein Cave in the distance. Back from the Grosses Pohlshorn detour, turn right (green line). The route then descends, crosses the Kirnitzsch and continues to follow the green line uphill. At a crossroads, you can take another detour, which is on the way and well worth a visit - to the Teichstein (turn slightly right). The Großer Teichstein (412 m) above the Zeughaus in the Großer Zschand is well worth a detour. The ascent requires surefootedness and a bit of a sense of adventure. The eroded sandstone near the summit is impressive. Back from this view, turn right (green line) to the armoury. The Zeughaus is now a small restaurant; one house further on you can visit the Zeughaus National Park Information Centre. Among other things, the information centre provides information on the historical use of hunting with details on capercaillie, lynx, wolf and deer hunting. Continue along the wide path through the Großer Zschand (yellow line) to the Neumannmühle mill in the Kirnitzschtal valley, the end point of the hike. The tour is suitable for children, but only to a limited extent for dogs due to the many steps on the descent to the Großer Pohlhorn and the Teichstein.
