Popular circular trail in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, Saxony.
This route in Saxon Switzerland leads past some of the most spectacular rock formations in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. As the name of the trail suggests, in addition to the Falkenstein and the Großer Winterberg, the route also passes the Schrammsteine, a rock formation characterised by dramatic crevices to the east of Bad Schandau.
This tour starts at the free Falkenstein Hütten car park. From there, the route climbs up to the Großer Winterberg. There are many steps and ladders to climb in places. Sturdy shoes and sure-footedness are recommended. You should also bring enough food and drink as there are no refreshment stops along the way. The tour is strenuous in parts but absolutely worthwhile in terms of the scenery.
