Popular circular trail with great views near Blankenburg in the northern Harz Mountains, Saxony-Anhalt.
This is a small circular trail to Regenstein Castle, the Regensteinmühle, and the large sandstone caves, which is also great for hiking with children. The Regenstein car park is the start and end point of this hike. From there, go toward the small sandstone caves to the Pastorenstein. Turning south, we continue to the impressive Great Sandstone Caves. The last highlight is the ruins of the Regenstein rock castle. Regenstein Castle and Fortress is a stamp of the Harzer Wanderstift.
The steep ascent to the castle was repaved in 2022 and is, therefore, safe even in bad weather.
