Harz Witches' Trail Stage 4 Southern Variant: Drei Annen Hohne - Altenbrak

This route is the 4th of the Harz Hexen-Stieg (southern variant) from Drei Annen Hohne to Altenbrak. Unlike the northern route, this path runs south of the reservoirs and follows the river landscape of the Kalte and Warme Bode via Königshütte through deep forests and mountain meadows. Accommodation is available in guesthouses and hotels in Königshütte or Altenbrak; wild camping is strictly prohibited. Water is reliably available in the villages, but you will need to bring your own supplies for the forest sections. Both towns are connected to the HVB bus network This route follows an exciting variant of the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg, connecting Neuwerk with Wendefurth via an architectural highlight. The path branches off from the main trail in Neuwerk and follows the HET-Weg directly to the Rappbode Dam. The absolute highlight is crossing the Titan RT, one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges of its kind, offering spectacular views over the Bode Valley (toll required). After the thrill, a steep descent leads to the Wendefurth Reservoir, where the route rejoins the official Harzer-Hexen-Stieg. Overnight stays are available in guesthouses in Neuwerk or Wendefurth; wild camping is prohibited in the Harz region.
