This adventurous and nature-focused hike leads through one of the most spectacular side valleys of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The trail connects the banks of the Rhine near Oberlahnstein with the wildly romantic Ruppertsklamm, following an exciting mixture of paved riverside paths, steep forest trails, and rocky passages, some of which are secured with steel cables. A central highlight is the traverse of the approximately 1.5 km long gorge, where a small stream has carved deep into the slate rock, tumbling down towards the valley in cascades.
