Kühkopf - Dummelberg - Rittersturz

This historic and scenic circular route leads through the Koblenz City Forest at the northern edge of the Hunsrück mountains. The trail explores the forested ridges above the Rhine Valley, following a diverse mixture of broad forestry roads, narrow woodland paths, and serpentines. A central highlight is the plateau at Rittersturz, which not only offers a spectacular view of the Deutsches Eck and the Rhine Valley but also went down in German history as the site of the 1948 "Rittersturz Conference." In the dense beech and oak forests around the Kühkopf (382 m), roe deer, middle spotted woodpeckers, and various birds of prey can be brilliantly observed. Due to the steady ascents and descents between the Rhine level and the summits, the route requires solid basic fitness.
