RTF Mayen - 152 KM (Official route)

This long-distance cycle route takes cyclists deep into the Volcanic Eifel and begins and ends in the historic town of Mayen. The ride winds through a landscape of rolling hills, wide plateaus and deep river valleys that are typical of Rhineland-Palatinate. You can expect a mixture of quiet country roads and paved paths that offer sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and forests. A highlight of the region is Mayen itself, known as the "Gateway to the Eifel", with the impressive Genoveva Castle dating back to the 13th century. The route is part of the local RTF tradition (Radsport-Touren-Fahrt) and is designed to test the endurance of ambitious cyclists. Whilst the terrain is technically easy, the constant climbs and the enormous length of the loop present a considerable physical challenge in one of the most picturesque rural areas of western Germany.
