The trail leads up through a "water catchment area" - water that returns to the surface in the valley below in the form of numerous springs. Various water catchment facilities can be seen along the way. In Abenden there is a spring house from which water is pumped up to Nideggen. A beautiful tour in terms of scenery, but with ascents and descents.

Continuous signposting (originally signs for the Quellenweg) is no longer guaranteed, as this hiking trail is no longer listed in the current trail network of the Rureifel / Nideggen/Abenden area. Nevertheless, the paths are still walkable. A hiking map is recommended or follow the GPS track.
