Permanente CTF RSC Kettwig-Essen: Kettwiger Wald und Wasser

Kettwig forest and water CTF-Permanente. RSC Essen-Kettwig has been offering a permanent route since 2020 for all those who want to collect 2 points for the BDR annual ranking regardless of the CTF and RTF events taking place at the weekend or simply want to ride a nice loop through the greenery close to the city. The route is around 45 km long and starts at the "Haus Ripshorst" information centre in Oberhausen-Borbeck. The information centre of the Ruhr Regional Association (RVR) offers interested visitors lots of interesting facts about the "green Ruhr region". The route runs almost exclusively along car-free forest, woodland and cycle paths in the area of the towns of Bottrop, Dinslaken and Oberhausen. The route emphasises the scenic contrasts between the formerly industrial area along the Rhine-Herne Canal and the areas in the Kirchheller Heide characterised by forest and water. The route takes in interesting places and buildings worth seeing, such as the "New Centre Oberhausen" - better known as "CentrO" - the Heidesee lake or the work of art "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" - a swinging high-voltage pylon. There are opportunities to stop for refreshments along the way. The route is suitable for cross, gravel, mountain and trekking bikes all year round. The route is not suitable for racing bikes due to the sometimes rough surface. The route profile is mostly flat and only has an elevation gain of around 350 metres. The route does not present any particular technical difficulties. A careful riding style is recommended on the numerous wooden bridges, especially in wet conditions.
