Kumsttonn - Hünenkapelle Saxon Camp in Oerlinghausen

Circular Route over the Tönsberg near Oerlinghausen The starting and finishing point is a town centre car park in Oerlinghausen. The path leads up the steep Himmelsleiter (ladder to heaven) up the Tönsberg to the Kumsttonne - the remains of an 18th century windmill. From the ridgeway, there is a wide view over Oerlinghausen and the Lippe mountains. Past the Berggasthof inn, the route continues to the memorial to those who fell in the First World War and onwards along artistically decorated memorial stones. The Löns memorial and the meditation trail lead to the quietly situated Hünenkapelle chapel, a place with a special atmosphere. Behind the chapel, the trail runs through the Sachsenlager, an early medieval rampart and moat complex with a panoramic view of the Teutoburg Forest. This is followed by a section of the Hermannsweg trail to the babbling Sachsenquelle spring. The cool water treading pool invites you to refresh yourself.
