This specific section begins in Oerlinghausen and travels southeast to the historic Hermannsdenkmal on the Grotenburg near Detmold. The path passes the Kumsttonne windmill stump before climbing the Tönsberg to see medieval ruins. Hikers traverse the Rethlager Quellen spring gorge and the Hiddeser Bent, a rare living hillside moor. The stage leads through the Donoper and Krebsteich nature reserves before ascending to the colossal Hermann Monument.
