The Former Copper Mills near Stolberg

Exciting hike through the Brander Wald nature reserve near Stolberg, North Rhine-Westphalia. This hike can be reached by bus and train (Buschmühle bus stop). For those travelling by car, there are parking facilities at the starting point. The route is therefore ideal as a day trip from Cologne and Aachen. The hiking trail starts in the north of the Brander Wald nature reserve at the Buschmühle mill, which was built shortly after the Thirty Years' War and operated as a rolling mill at the beginning of the 19th century. From there, the route runs in a small arc and a large arc through the nature reserve. The nature reserve is part of a Bundeswehr training area. Entering the area during training periods is prohibited and outside of training periods is at your own risk. Leaving the paved paths is also prohibited during these times.
