55 Bergisches Land

By bike, suspension ferry, cable car and suspension railway through the Bergisches Land region: the route starts at the car park of Mirk station in Wuppertal. From there, you cycle along various routes towards Gräfrath and Solingen. A short detour from the cycle path to the tranquil town of Gräfrath offers a short break in an ice cream parlour or coffee house. Solingen is followed by a great long, wooded descent to the Müngsten Bridge Park. There you take the transporter bridge and cycle along the Wupper towards Burg Castle. At the bottom of the village, you can take the cable car up to the castle by bike. The downhill route should be adapted for normal touring bikes if necessary, as some sections can only be tackled by mountain bike. It is also possible to take the road back down to the village. The route returns along the Wupper towards Müngsten Bridge. Before that, the route climbs up a twelve per cent gradient and then descends steeply to the entrance area of the bridge park. With normal bikes, the outward route with the transporter bridge should be chosen again. The rest of the route is mostly on a cycle path along the motorway route, with as little gradient as possible to Wuppertal Vohwinkel. And there you take the suspension railway at the zoo by bike. You get off at the Ohligser Mühle. From there, you cycle through the centre of Elberfeld, where there are plenty of places to stop for refreshments. Afterwards, you cycle uphill again to Mirk railway station. Have fun!
