The hike begins north of Kloster, at the Dornbusch National Park access area. Bicycles should be left in the bicycle parking area. Up the hill, a paved road leads to the legendary Inselblick, which offers views from the Bodden across the southern part of the island to the open Baltic Sea. The church spires of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund greet you from the horizon. Shortly afterwards, you reach the lighthouse. From the gallery you have a breathtaking view over the national park, as far as Rügen and, on a clear day, as far as the chalk cliffs of the Danish island of Mön. The route continues along the high shore. Between the "thorn bushes", which gave this part of the island its name, there are always marvellous views of the Baltic Sea.
