This stage is rich in nature and culture. The former Cistercian monastery Stift Börstel has been located in the woods north of Berge for over 750 years and has been ecumenically occupied for almost 400 years. According to tradition, the monastery is an hour's walk from the nearest village. The peace and tranquillity emanating from the early Gothic brick church and the medieval monastery buildings on the grounds envelops every hiker who pauses at this spiritual place. The imposing 25 metre high and up to 400 year old lime trees in front of the St. Marien monastery church are natural monuments and the babbling stream underlines the natural idyll. The neighbouring Hahnenmoor nature reserve also offers "pure nature".
