This final stage of the popular Harzer BaudenSteig long-distance hiking trail leads from Wieda to Walkenried. The route leads along beautiful forest and field paths through former GDR border territory. Along the way, you will come across numerous cultural and historical sights. For example, the mining of red ironstone and ironworks were the determining economic factors in the region until the end of the 19th century. There is a small spirits factory in Zorge - the "Hammerschmiede". Among other things, single malt whiskey has been distilled here since 2002. The hike ends at Walkenried Monastery with its innovative monastery museum.
