Bramsche - Alfsee - Bersenbrück

Hike along the River Hase from Bramsche to Bersenbrück. The starting and finishing points of this hike through the Hase lowlands are the respective railway stations on the Osnabrück Hbf north-west railway line. Large parts of the route lead over the Hase dyke, which does not have paved paths in all places, so that in very wet weather a few passages may have to be bypassed. The first stop is the distribution structure, where part of the Hase water is diverted via the Zuleiter towards Alfsee (rainwater retention basin). The rest flows further into the Tiefen Hase and via a pipe to the Hohe Hase. The proposed route follows the Zuleiter to the Alfsee, reaches the biological station and circles half of the reserve basin to the north. "It has been designated a nature reserve since 1994. Normally, the water is only channelled through here and fed back into the Hase via the drain behind the basin. During heavy rainfall, the reserve basin can also be completely flooded, while the eastern meadows are normally only shallowly flooded for the guest birds during the winter months." (http://haseniederung.de/ueberuns/alfsee/) From the confluence of the Tiefer Hase and Ableiter rivers, the path along the banks of the Hase leads to Bersenbrück. Many waterfowl can be observed, especially in the winter months. There are several shelters along the way for short breaks.
