Schloss Braunfels - Burgruine Philippstein

A beautiful tour through the Solmser Land, which is dominated by a fairytale castle: The tour starts at the Haus des Gastes. First walk up the street to the market square and turn left into the spa gardens (mighty old trees!). Leave the spa gardens at the east entrance and follow Tiergartenstraße southwards out of the town (hiking trail symbol X). The X leads on to Philippstein with its beautifully restored castle ruins, down into the village and further along the Möttau to Bermbach. At the end of Bermbach (cemetery), turn west until you reach the "Dreieck" hiking trail at the edge of the forest. At the back of the wildlife park area, follow the triangle to Hirschhausen. The Lahnhöhenweg L leads back to Braunfels. Go up the road and turn right into Kastanienallee. A small path on the left leads directly back to the market square. Alternatively, you can walk through the castle grounds in a west-east direction.
