This route is a certified premium hiking trail. Over a distance of 20 kilometres, you have to master repeated ascents that demand a certain level of fitness. However, you will be rewarded with very varied nature; the often winding and sometimes quite steep paths lead through fields, meadows and forests. A highlight of the route is the Blaue Kuppe, an extinct volcano. You also pass the Lotzenkopf and the Leuchtberge with the Bismarck Tower. From there you have excellent views over Eschwege and the Werra valley.
Alternative car parks can be found here: Hotel Stadthalle, Wiesenstraße car park, Leuchtbergsattel car park or car park at Leuchtberg-Felsenkeller. If you are travelling by bus, you should get off at the Eschwege Hospitalplatz stop.
