This route is a certified premium hiking trail that offers plenty of variety. The route leads through scenic landscapes such as orchards and juniper heaths and includes several ascents and descents, which are rewarded with magnificent views of the Hoher Meißner.
The church ruins at the entrance to Abterode and the visitor mine Grube Gustav are good starting points for this route. For hikers travelling by bus or train, the Meißner-Abterode Sparkasse bus stop is the starting point.
Please note: The former "Meißnerland P2" route has been split into the two trails "Frankershäuser Karst P2" and "Höllental P23" (marked with the yellow "P23" symbol).
