This route is a certified premium hiking trail and leads along a varied route around the Hoher Meißner. It is marked with the yellow "P1" symbol. Tranquil forests, green meadows, impressive rock formations and enchanting views - this circular route is a real treat. The route also passes historic tunnels from the mining era and the "Stinksteine" ("stinking stones"), which owe their name to the typical smell of brown coal. Mining was carried out here for a whole four centuries!
Possible starting points are the Schwalbenthal car park, the Frau-Holle-Teich car park or the Meißnerhaus car park. If travelling by bus or train, it is best to get off at the Hoher Meißner Schwalbenthal stop.
