Starting in Glashütten, the route takes visitors to the Oberes Emsbachtal nature reserve. Most of the hike runs through the beautiful high forests of the Hochtaunus up to Oberems. On the way back, the trail climbs a good way uphill through the nature reserve along the Emsbach stream until you come across the remains of the Emsbachschlucht forest glassworks. At the top of the Emstalweg and the Waldglasweg is the imposing Gottschalk spruce.
