In the Devil's Quarter around Großer Feldberg

This hike leads through the heart of the Hochtaunus around the Großer Feldberg, the highest peak in the Taunus and the entire Rhenish Slate Mountains. From the summit plateau, the trail leads visitors down into the legendary Teufelsquartier, a rugged rocky area on the slopes of the mountain. Here, the trail leads through rustic spruce and beech forests where, with a bit of luck, deer or the rare black woodpecker can be spotted. The striking quartzite rocks such as the "Beilstein", which protrude from the forest floor and are often covered in mosses and ferns, are a particular highlight.
