Popular circular hiking trail near Neuzelle, Brandenburg. Just a few metres from the monastery is this small wooded area, which was once planted and tended by the monks with various trees and shrubs. It forms a stark contrast to the tableland meadows and gives the impression that you are in a low mountain range. The small wood is a popular destination for those seeking relaxation at any time of year. Small paths lead to the Herzberg, Sternberg or Mondberg. But beware, sometimes they are very rustic and you may have to negotiate a tree or two. In spring, the carpet of flowers of the many early bloomers spreads out on the light forest floor under the deciduous trees that are still in bud, in summer the dense canopy of leaves provides pleasant shade, in autumn the dry, rustling leaves cover the ground and when there is snow on it in winter, you feel as if you have been transported to the low mountain range. Winding paths and steep slopes make this hike an experience. The forest here is not swept, but natural, as Mother Nature has created it over many years. The tour starts at the southern entrance to the monastery (Evangelical Church of the Holy Cross). Visits to Neuzelle Monastery (the baroque wonder of Brandenburg) are possible. The complex has been completely preserved and you can visit the Catholic Church of St. Mary, the Protestant Church of the Holy Cross, the cloister with monastery museum, the "Heavenly Theatre" museum and the baroque garden. The Neuzell monastery brewery and the "Strohhaus Neuzelle" museum are located outside the complex. There are various restaurants and accommodation options in the resort of Neuzelle.
