Wooded circular route in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Grumsin Beech Forest, Brandenburg.
This hiking trail is the longest of the four Grumsin hiking trails, where hikers can get to know the extensive beech forests, their history and the wild animals that live in them. The last ice age created lakes and moors here, shaping this unique landscape. The route goes along natural forest paths, cobblestones, sandy paths and sometimes over hill and dale - good footwear is recommended.
The circular tour starts in Groß-Ziethen at the Geopark Visitor and Information Centre; via Grumsin, Altkünkendorf, Gehegemühle, Zuchenberg, Luisenfelde and Töpferberg back to the starting point. The hiking sign is a red beech leaf. In Luisenfelde, a visit to the dairy sheep farm is worthwhile - there is a factory here where it is possible to buy home-made cheese.
