Panoramic hike in the Berchtesgaden Alps, Bavaria.
This hike leads to the Kehlsteinhaus, also known as the Eagle's Nest. It was completed in 1938 and is one of the few "authentic" buildings from the Third Reich still standing today. The building was used by the NSDAP to hold government meetings and social gatherings. Today it is open seasonally as a restaurant and beer garden and attracts many tourists.
Although most visitors take the scenic bus route to the Eagle's Nest, it is also a wonderful place to hike. A signposted hiking trail leads from the Rossfeldstraße to the summit on small side paths.
