The first stage of the Spessart Trail 1 begins at the Aschaffenburg Fasanerie. Following in the footsteps of princes and pilgrims, the trail leads along impressive rock formations and up to the Teufelskanzlei, which offers fantastic views over the heights of the Taunus. The route continues to the High Cross and along the ruins of Ketzelburg Castle. Via the Schmerlenbach monastery and the Unterbessenbach estate, you reach the end of the stage, the village of Steiger.
